THR Justin Tower Art Concept
A hospital has to function, first and foremost, to promote healing and health. However, a hospital can also showcase artwork that supports healing and overall health within the walls.
Throughout the design and construction of the THR Justin Tower, a major objective was to ensure the art design supported the intended design for the facility. Team collaboration between the artists and facility designers was imperative to guarantee the Justin Tower became the impressive vision it is today. The design concept the team chose for the project was “Stitched”.
This stitched design concept is repeated in various ways throughout the building, both in the design of the building and in the art on the walls. The artists utilized various materials and avenues of fabrication to reinforce these “stitched” elements. If you look closely, you will begin to notice stitching embellishments on small canvases, stitching patterns burned into the wood shingles wall, glass “stitched” together using metal wire at the fireplace wall, and many other examples.
The color scheme of the stitched design concept is a rich saturation of deep colors depicting a Texas sunset. From the framed art hanging in the corridors and patient rooms to the large, architectural art installations, colors stretch from blues, golds, and rust reds to pasture green. The coloration of the art makes a big statement in a beautifully designed hospital.
Not only is the stitched theme represented in the design of the facility and the design of the art, but also in the team that was “stitched” together to create the beautifully orchestrated space. From the contractor, architect, interior designers, equipment planners and artists, these groups collaborated and combined to create the healing facility you see today.
The artwork placed in the Justin Tower is indicative of Texas, Fort Worth, cutting-edge healthcare technology, and a few unexpected surprises to delight anyone who is moving throughout the space.
